Resize windows from all edges

Submitted by tomerb on August 13, 2008 to Usability

Why be able to resize only from the bottom right corner?

It's much more natural to be able to drag any perimeter pixel of the window to indicate your intention to resize.

It should be top priority.

I think it can be helpful that window can be resized by lower corners, but ability to resize window by every corner would destroy usability.

Only the corners? Every edge of the window should be resizable vertically or horizontally.

Strongly agree that window resizing should be available from more (possibly all) window edges.

Not having this available often means multiple iterations are necessary to properly resize and reposition windows.

Topper: How would this reduce destroy, or even reduce, usability?

It could be implemented in a way, that only while pressing alt or cmd, the cursor changes to a <--> and allows to resize at the borders/corners.

The inability to resize windows from all edges is a huge irritation on Mac! As a result, a user often has to combine several resize + move window operation to accomplish a task that could be performed with a single resize operation!

AGREE!!!!! The fact this is missing makes the Mac much more tedious to use.

@topper "Destroy usability?" Destroy is awfully strong language for a statement made with no supporting evidence.
