Copy file path location

Submitted by kmfdm on August 11, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Unfortunatly you can not copy the path to a file or folder. This feature is availiable through tools like win shortcutter but it should be built into the system and should support forward and backslashes for mixed enviroments.

To copy a file path, simply drag the icon into a text field.

This is BY FAR my biggest complaint about the Mac. Finder needs an option to allow me to see, cut and paste the path (w/o having to revert to a 4 finger salute) AND file dialogs need the same.

I know some don't want this so make it an advanced option that an advanced user much first turn on.
