Finder: better switching between Finder windows

Submitted by bastyani on August 23, 2009 to Usability

Better switching between Finder windows should be implemented.
For that purpose I now have to use extra plugins (witch) so I can switch between
Finder windows with alt-tab shortcut.

A solution similar to witch.

Although it doesn't show a menu of options (there is visual feedback from watching the windows, I guess), you can switch between open windows with Command-Tilde

I know that it is possible to use the "Command-Tilde" combination as I used it before but with a lot of Finder windows it gives an almost "random" experience as you are never shure what window is next.

I seem to like Exposé. Anyone ever heard of that? You can switch to Finder and then use the applications specific F10 trigger, or you could just hold your mouse down. I think it's more a problem of habit, since even though I have lots of Finder windows open, I'm not craving for a way to use alt-tab as a window switcher. I can understand, but implementing it only for the finder would be confusing...
