Safari: not switching to space when search is activated

Submitted by mojo2012 on April 26, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

If there is a safari window with an active search (searchbar visible + dimmed website background + highlighted text), then the alt-tab doesn't switch to the space, where the Safari window is. Safari is being activated - the menu bar changes - but the space stays the same.

Make the spaces autoswitch mechanism work while safari has a running search.

The one of you that voted -1, please explain your vote! I really want to know that argument(s) against this proposal.

Is it really a bad idea to expact spaces to work ALWAYS? Or is there some kind of "Mac sense" behind that behaviour, that I don't understand?

I use 10.5.6, latest Safari, Glims and AdBlock. So if this doesn't happen in prior version and/or Safari without addons, please tell me.
Just make a negativ vote and don't post alternatives or improvement suggestions is a bad behavious!

I'm not seeing this behaviour. I'm curious; under System Preferences>Exposé & Spaces>Spaces, do you have checked "When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for the application"? This may be the problem. I'll hold off voting.

Running 10.5.7 and Safari 4 Beta 5528.17 (Security Update).
