Window Management: autosize windows that are larger than the screen

Submitted by mojo2012 on March 29, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

If you start an application (like iCal, Mail, Safari) and maximize it to the screensize the actual window size is stored. The next time the app starts up, the size is restored.
So far, this behaviour is greate.
But if you restart your computer with a lower resolution, eg. with external monitor with lower resolution, the app height gets adjusted, so that the window is not behind the Dock. But the width of the window stays the same. So the left window buttons are out of screen.
You have to move the window to the left side, and then press the "fit to screen" button to adjust the window width to the actual resolution.

This behaviour is weired ...

Adjust the window width to the current screen width if the window is wider than the screen.
