Click on desktop brings Finder windows to front
Clicking on the desktop where there's nothing activates the finder but does not bring it's windows to the front.
Isn't that a waste?

From my perspective, this is desired behavior. If I want the windows to come forward I can click on the icon. If I want to get to the Finder's menu options, but don't necessarily want a window to come forward, I can click on the desktop and then get to the menus.

The behavior is desired behavior... Take for instance 2 Safari windows. If I click on a visible part of one to bring it forward, it does not bring both of the to the front. That would be stupid. I only want the window I click on coming to the front. So why in the name of sanity would I want 5 of my open finder windows to come to the front when I click the desktop for one reason or another?
Good god man, no!
This sfunctionality is avaible in the application Camouflage. it's usefull, but not in all cases. I wouldn't make it the standard behaviour, but I do have a suggestion. I use camouflage to double click on the desktop and it opens a new window (it also hides my desktop icons) - that's really usefull. But it's a matter of taste, although this behaviour would go against the logic.
Watachful, that means you need to have your windows nicely stacked - which is rarely my case. I'm often annoyed to access a smaller windows behind.
Well, OK... Anyone know of a way (Applescript) to stack all windows of every app?
jasper, thanks I'll check it out.
Also, clicking on the Finder in the Dock brings all the windows to the front (wich is a standard behaviour) and Apple built in several quick keys to show you desktop and all your Windows (it's called Exposé and it has bee... Whatever, if you don't know what Exposé is you probably wouldn't even dare to post anything here). I think Apple provided enough logical and intuitive ways for you to navigate your windows, Finder and desktop.
And if Apple didn't provide enough, I'm sure camouflage will offer the solution you wanted.

I don't know what you want to change?
The current behaviour is to activate finder, as the desktop is nothing more than a (special) finder window.
This is the same behaviour as if you click on an empty space in a real finder window.
