Stacks pointing to external drives cease working after the drive has been disconnected (and then reconnected)

I have a stack on my dock (list) that points on an external drive . If the drive is disconnected and then reconnected, the stack ceases working until a reboot or until you delete the stack and then re-drag the folder back into the dock.

What happens is you click the stack which brings up the list of subfolders but none of the subfolders open if you hover over them, and clicking on them results in an error. (error in picture)

Fix the bug.
