Bluetooth File Exchange application is terrible

Submitted by MicrowaveDave on December 28, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

It's absolute crap! It can't transfer folders, baulks when transferring too many files at the same time, doesn't have a search function and doesn't display any information other than file size. It forces users to copy items to the Mac before they can be opened and doesn't allow files on the device to be modified without first copying them to the Mac, editing them then replacing the original.

How hard is it to simply mount Bluetooth devices in the Finder (similar to USB keys) rather than relying on this ridiculous application that can't even copy folders correctly?

Allow users to mount Bluetooth devices in the Finder. Problem solved.

I do agree that Bluetooth File Exchange application is terrible but I was thinking of Apple style applications... hot keys are all messed up. Keyboard navigation should be just like in the Finder. I have no idea how to enter a folder with the keyboard... and backspace deletes an item! And you can't copy multiple files! Those are my problems with it! I don't want to mount my phone to edit a file... what if the phone went away while saving? Would I lose the file?? I believe saving it to disk might be safer... Anyway that app needs a damn rewrite!
