Cannot create Genius playlist in iTunes 8 via Menu Bar or keyboard shortcut

Submitted by Grey_Podder on September 13, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Currently the only way to create a Genius playlist around a song in iTunes is to click the "Start Genius" button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window. There is no keyboard shortcut, and because there is also no Menu Bar command for it, one cannot assign a custom keyboard shortcut.

Preferably, assign a keyboard shortcut to this button. Otherwise, at least add a command for this in the Menu Bar (for example, Store>Start Genius, which can be grouped with the other Genius commands). Then one could assign a custom keyboard shortcut to it in System Preferences.

I understand the Menu Bar complaint, but I don't see people's hotkeys-addiction. I use them in Photoshop, but in iTunes I only want them to pauze my music or go to the next or previous song. The rest would just get confusing once I switch to my reall apps. I'm not demoting or giving a vote, because I don't need shortcuts - but I'de like a menu bar complaint.

It's very important that all programs has shortcuts for most features.
I think it's a big mistake that Apple has forgotten to make at shortcut to the Genius feature, especially as it could be a feature that one would use often.

I know a blind guy. He loves music. But he cant use the Genius feature because there is no way to trigger it by using the keyboard.
