Finder sidebar visibility status not always remembered

Submitted by Frylock on August 28, 2008 to Aesthetics, Bug, Usability

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new folder in your home directory
2. Drag it to your desktop while holding alt+cmd, creating an Alias
3. Doubleclick the alias. Your folder will show up, with its sidebar visible.
4. Click the switch in the upper right-hand corner to hide the sidebar. Close the window.
5. Restart the finder by ctrl-alt clicking on the Finder icon in the dock, then selecting "Relaunch"
6. Doubleclick the alias on your desktop again, the sidebar is visible again.

Fix it, it's an annoying bug, which is reproducible 100%.
