Keyboard selection support

Submitted by dgood on August 23, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Shift + Option + {arrow, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down} should work for navigating through text, folders, the Finder window, etc.

For example, when selecting files to move, Shift + Option + Page Down should select all files on each screen when it's pressed, then advance on screen ahead

Add more support for keyboard selection using these key combinations. See Windows XP, Vista, etc.

There's already one almost exactly like this about keyboard selection.

polycat33 is right, I submitted it a few days ago, but it seems I wasn't clear enough. +1 for attracting more voters ;)

There should be a facility to merge similar submissions on this site...

Also: Mac OS X is not Vista, is not XP. Just because that's the way another OS does things doesn't necessarily make it the "right" way (even if that OS has more market share!).

I agree that it doesn't make it "right", but it is darn useful. OS X could really benefit from this.
