Finder: use the searchbox for filtering of folder contents

In Snow Leopard at least: Finder->Preferences->Advanced-> "When Performing a Search"-> switch to "Search the Current Folder".

Safari: move "show history" to the top of the history menu

I always seem to click "Show Top Sites" when I open the History menu because I think it says Show all Bookmarks. +1.

I use this: http://www.everydaysoftware.net/showdesktop/ to create a "show desktop" icon in the menu bar. I suppose you could link it to a hotkey with another program.
