Maximum window size with one button(like windows)

Wrote on September 27, 2009, 1:07pm

The behavior is in fact so strange that a company made a "plugin" to fix that problem.
It is called Right Zoom: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30591
I also want the plus button to maximize the window to the whole screen.
Another problem on the mac is that even if you maximize the window the window itself is still movable and it is not fixed (like on windows) and it is driving me crazy.

Snow Leopard - the new minimize option has no clear indication of minimized windows

Wrote on September 10, 2009, 5:24pm

@tut21 - I am not saying that it SHOULD be done in the way presented I am only givng a rough suggestion. The one here quickly done is maybe really looking too aggressive - i agree - it should be more minimalistic and not so visible but some kind of indication is necessary. Not all the people use expose all the time and in the old way at least you see the windows minimized in the dock but it is an unnecessary clutter.

Saving the original location info for files in Trash

Wrote on August 31, 2009, 1:01pm

Now (in Snow Leopard) if you right-click an item in the bin you have the option to
"put back" the file. A lot more useful than before but it still lacks the info about the previous file location. It would be great if you could just click on the file in the trash and get info and then in the info window the original file location would be given before the file was put in trash.

"Different" shutdown menu in the new Snow Leopard (10.6)

Wrote on August 30, 2009, 3:31pm

(@mojo2012) You are right! It is obviously my mistake or a different
setting in my previous Leopard system. Now when I enabled "keyboard control" in the keyboard prefpane everything is as it should be.
Maybe it will be a useful tip for others.

Finder: better switching between Finder windows

Wrote on August 24, 2009, 4:55am

I know that it is possible to use the "Command-Tilde" combination as I used it before but with a lot of Finder windows it gives an almost "random" experience as you are never shure what window is next.

Sounds for Plugging in and Unplugging

Wrote on August 23, 2009, 3:58pm

Absolutely necessary! I use hardwaregrowler to solve this problem.
Some kind of audio or better visual report is necessary so you know
when you successfully mount your external devices!

Make software update notification discoverable when hidden beneath other windows

There are several other windows or applications that are not listed in the Cmd-Tab window or else. They are open and running but not visible as a standard program...
