Finder: Queued file copy/move operations

Wrote on January 6, 2009, 12:17pm

It slows the computer because MacBook's harddrive is slow. Get a 7200rpm hard drive and it never slows down again while doing copies or big file extractions from archives.

Finder: No way to refresh a window

Wrote on January 3, 2009, 4:50pm

If i'm not mistaken, Finder refreshes when you activate the window. I usually mount smb network drives and I only need to select any other window or the desktop and select back the first window to refresh it.

Use Icon instead of Application Menu Name

I think a drop down might be more dificult to implement, e.g. what happens when you click an icon? And what about iStat-like menus, that are custom made? Reveling the icons would allow everything to be just the same.

Finder: NEW small symbols list view

Windows and Linux (at least Nautilus file browser) has what you want.
At least on windows it can get a bit anoying if you have a really huge file name because it creates to much white space and it a bit weird... I think that, if implemented, it should keep having a (bigger) character limit to avoid that.

I think the -votes are from people who don't need the option. I don't, but I didn't vote.

Finder: select files with keyboard

I don't like the addition model... I'm always kind of afraid of selecting too much... bah

Spaces: overview only on primary screen

Well, I think it makes sense the way it is now, but it is kinda weird to see everything on just one screen... Can't imagine it working other way, though...

iCal: better todo management

The screenshot? Crowded... Awful... Maybe the days separation as an option, but only that...

Front Row: Resume playing music from iTunes

Wrote on January 3, 2009, 1:30am

This is the only and most anoying thing i find with the move from Tiger to Leopard... Front Row is utterly useless to me in Leopard because I only used it when i was away from the mac and wanted to control it's music. And if I'm listening to something and I want to do a search, it stops playing... I want you back Front Row 1.0!

Safari Stand (safari plug-in) has this option

Use Icon instead of Application Menu Name

Wrote on January 3, 2009, 1:10am

I do have problems with icons hiding because i have too many and some apps have many menus. But the solution would be to have some "reveal" option like Windows has for it's taskbar icons. The only solution it to change the current app to the Finder because it takes very small space in the menu bar.

Bluetooth File Exchange application is terrible

Wrote on January 3, 2009, 12:56am

I do agree that Bluetooth File Exchange application is terrible but I was thinking of Apple style applications... hot keys are all messed up. Keyboard navigation should be just like in the Finder. I have no idea how to enter a folder with the keyboard... and backspace deletes an item! And you can't copy multiple files! Those are my problems with it! I don't want to mount my phone to edit a file... what if the phone went away while saving? Would I lose the file?? I believe saving it to disk might be safer... Anyway that app needs a damn rewrite!

I really hope Snow Leopard brings Resolution Independence back to reality...

Finder: Queued file copy/move operations

Wrote on January 3, 2009, 12:40am

Windows has a third party called Copy Handler that enables file transfer queuing. It's not intelligent like you say but it's better than nothing. Not even path finder has this but it would be great
