Resize of icons - MPB you can do it with trackpad
When using finder in Icon view there should be a quick way to change the icon size just like inside iPhoto.
Currently you have to open the view properties "Command + J" or if you have a Multitouch trackpad you can use the pintch to resize.

Default Search in finder should be in CURRENT FOLDER not the whole computer
Normally when you search for files inside FINDER you look for files within a especific folder and that should be the default option. If you are looking for files on the whole computer you can always go directly to Spotlight.
