bottom of finder window extends screen

Confirmed - The green button often just reverts the window back to its previous state. If the computer was connected to a monitor with a larger resolution, the current and saved window states sometimes both make the window appear off-screen or near the edge of the screen, therefore unable to be resized.
One temporary solution could be to change your monitor to the highest resolution temporarily, then resize the window, then change the resolution back. Another could be to connect the computer temporarily to a larger monitor and resize the windows to all fit inside the top left corner of the screen, so when the smaller monitor is attached they will be resizable.
If Apple would just fix the green button to reflect the old OS 9 behaviour (which would either enlarge the window to fill the entire screen or resize the window fit the contents inside) this would not be an issue.
