Seperator between Stacks and minimized Windows

Submitted by mojo2012 on October 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

It would be nice to have the same seperator as between apps and stacks between the minimized windows in the dock an the stacks. That would it make much easier to separate the different sections of the dock.

A seperator between stacks and minimized windows.

Locations not just for Network

Submitted by mojo2012 on October 16, 2008 to Usability

The Locations menu is quite usefull. But why is it just for network settings?

Generalize the Locations menu --> store network, screen, background, power saving, sound etc ... for each location.

Unify compress/extract, copy/move, mount

Submitted by mojo2012 on October 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

There are three different windows for file system operations:
* copy/move window --> the move windows hat "copy" in its window title ...
* compress/extract --> extract is a "copy" window, compress has its own (more...)

I think it would be much better, if all these functions would use the same window. Just change the window title and description.

Another thing I would like to see, is that all file system operation windows dock together. Or at least each (more...)

Finder: Copy/Move dialogs are hanging

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 28, 2008 to Bug

Sometimes when I'm copying some files over a network, I get the message, that the there is a timeout. This happens eg. when my WLAN breaks down for a view seconds. Sometimes this even happens while copying onto an ntfs formatted usb stick.
Then (more...)

Maybe reprogram the copy/move functionality of the Finder. File transactions should not affect the Finder stability (and vice versa?)

Exposé & window shadow

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Aesthetics

If you use exposé the shadow around the window disappear suddenly while the windows get arranged. After choosing a window it flys back to it's normal position. Short after that the shadow suddenly re-appears. This looks quirky ...

Make the shadow fade away more softly when using exposé.

Finder/Labels: colored folders icons

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

It would be nice if the color of the folder icon would match the color of the chose label.

Set the folder icon color to the same as the label.

Folder Icons: they are UGLY!

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Aesthetics

I hate the new Leopard folder icons -. they're just plain ugly. Why not use something more colorful and easy to recognize.

I use the tool LiteIcon to change the folder icons, but some kind of built-in icon-theme-switcher would be nice.

Use different Icons for folders, eg. like the ones in the screenshot.

Stacks: show an icon for each kind of stack

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

I like the stacks feature. But I hate that normally there are no icons for that stack. Either show the folder icon, or show the contents. If you have a few stacks it's hard to distinguish them, because they look quite similar.

It's (more...)

Show a stack icon for each kind of folder (downloads, documents, movies, ..) as seen in the screenshot.

Switch spaces by hitting the screen border with the mouse

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Usability

It would be greate to have a built in function to switch to the right space by just hitting the right screen border with the mouse and stay there for a sec or so.

There is a little tool called Warp, that can do that. I'd prefer a native solution to that problem

Switch User Function in main menu

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Usability

It is possible to have a little head in the menu bar at the right side. This menu applet allows you to switch to the login window.

This "Switch User"/Lock function should be in the main menu like shown on the picture.

Consistent background color during boot, logon, user switching

Submitted by mojo2012 on September 27, 2008 to Aesthetics

While booting up the screen background is white with the little apple in the middle of the screen. Before showing the login window, the background changes to some sort of blue background, changes to another blue again and after that it shows the background (more...)

* The blue background should be black or not being shown at all.
* The cube effect transition should not show the blue background as well - just show the login window + background image.
