iCal: I can't find any way to delete calendar entries or ToDos.
Uhhhhh, WOW... just wow!
Select the event, and press either delete key (or if using a non Apple Keyboard, Backspace or Delete key).
Just wow!
Click on desktop brings Finder windows to front
The behavior is desired behavior... Take for instance 2 Safari windows. If I click on a visible part of one to bring it forward, it does not bring both of the to the front. That would be stupid. I only want the window I click on coming to the front. So why in the name of sanity would I want 5 of my open finder windows to come to the front when I click the desktop for one reason or another?
Mail: three pane view
I've been begging for this for years (I was wishing for it back when Mail used the side drawer for mailboxes, that was just dumb)! I used the WideMail Plugin for a while, unfortunately it seems to make Mail a little more unstable (and got even worse with the last OS update), and it's implementation leaves much to be desired!
Finder: Queued file copy/move operations
I have always hated this behavior in Finder!
Adding files to finder should have that green plus symbol
No, no, no, green plus symbol is for COPY only. It indicates that files are going to be COPIED into the location you are dragging to. When the drag and drop action is going to MOVE the file(s) from its current location to the new location, no additional info is needed. Why do you need other visual indicators? You can already see a faint outline of the file(s) you are dragging, and you know they are going to land where you are dropping them.
Re: the comment above mine about the arrow. An little arrow indicates you are creating an alias (shortcut) to the file you are dragging (hold down command + option to do this). Again, I maintain all visual indicators currently in place should not change, and none should be added.
Here's the default actions in the Finder for copying vs. moving.
Dragging from one folder location to another located on the same hard drive will MOVE the file(s).
Dragging from one folder location to another located on a DIFFERENT hard drive than it is currently on will COPY (duplicate) the files to the folder you are dragging to as indicated by the green plus icon. This is as it should be!!!
When dragging from one location to another on the same hard drive, hold down the option key to COPY the files instead of moving them, you will see the green plus sign as confirmation.
When dragging to a location on a different hard drive, hold down the command key to MOVE the files to the new location and erase them from the original location. You will see when holding the command key the green plus sign will go away. (of note what is really happening is, because the files are on a seperate hard drive they cannot "actually" be moved in that case like from folder to folder on the same hard drive, so they are copied to their new destination, then the original files are deleted).
Finder should remember windows size
Finder already does this, as has been pointed out in previous comments.
Delete app related files/settings when dragging apps to the trash
I do not want to go the Windows route, I hate the way Windows applications are managed. But we really, REALLY need just a bit better way to manage apps and all their supporting files.
I'm really liking the idea of the Application folder being a special folder with a delete button at the top in a black bar (like the empty trash button).
But however it winds up getting solved (or not), I really hope Apple does *something* in the near future!
Oh oh, before I end this comment, I have to mention the heinous state of Apple's Pro Apps in regards to installing and un-installing. Apple's Pro Apps do not have an uninstaller. And the Pro Apps installer installs hundreds of supporting files throughout various different places on the hard drive.
Well, for whatever reason, every Pro App on one of my systems decided to quit working, would not launch. Tried re-installing over the top, didn't help. Tried to locate all files installed by the installer, delete, and re-install. Did not help! There was simply no way to locate and delete all installed files, and I suppose one would have to be better than me to locate and diagnose the problem and fix it. But I believe this problem would have been solved by the operating system having some system whereby the Pro Apps could be COMPLETELY uninstalled so that a proper re-installation could be accomplished. As it was, I finally had to back up the system, wipe it and completely re-install a clean OS.
To me, this represents a serious problem and failing of OS X (as good as OS X is, so please don't take me for saying there is a better OS). This needs to be solved.
Finder & OS X: File modification & creation dates are discarded when transferring files to FAT32 volumes
As I understand it, this has to do with technical limitations of the FAT file system. This is after all an old, and mostly outdated file system.
Front Row runs on primary monitor only and blanks the others
Jasper, you have some stranger theories. My wife has a low end MacBook, it runs two displays just find so your theory that the mac can't run both displays well at once is bogus. In fact, her previous computer, a 533 MHz titanium Powerbook ran two displays very well, so that blows your theory, that computer was as old as dirt and "slow" by todays standards.
As to aiming the remote somewhere besides your TV, that's ridiculous too. Unless you have an extraordinarily long cable, the IR receiver is going to be in fairly close proximity to the TV. In fact, we have a space right on the top of our entertainment center where the laptop sits.
And also, Apple "should" add a PREFERENCE as to which screen to display front row on. Again, this is a preference we are talking about. It would default to the main screen. Certainly someone who knows how to go buy the adapters and cables to connect the computer to the TV, and knows how to manipulate the preferences to display front row on that TV as a secondary monitor is smart enough to handle it.
iTunes: Can't undo tagging/playlist mistakes with "undo"
iTunes lack of ability to undo things has greatly annoyed me at times. Apple really needs to fix this.
Front Row runs on primary monitor only and blanks the others
I agree, Apple should provide the options for this natively. I connect my laptop to my TV all the time to watch shows or movies I bought with iTunes, and until recently I would always have to mirror the displays to get front row on the TV, which was annoying since it would mess up the desktop icons and other annoying things.
However, I recently discovered a third party app that works marvelously. When you launch this app, it gives you three options, permanently set front row to secondary display, set front row to second display one time only, or remove your previously set preference to run front row on second display all the time.

Copied files from some DVDs and CDs are given Read Only access
This is simply not true. In my line of work I have to copy files from CDs and DVDs clients or anyone else gives us all the time. I have never run in to this problem.
Feature Request: Java 1.6 for Leopard 32bit
Unless I'm missing something about what you are saying this is just silly!
There are not two versions of Leopard there is one. This is not windows where you need seperate 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems and applications. Leopard is a fully 32 or 64 bit operating system running either 32 or 64 bit apps.
System: startup sound
There is already a method in place to fix this. Hold down the mute key on your MacBook or MacBook Pro as it's starting up. It will not make the startup chime if you hold down mute while pressing the power button (make sure you hold it till the screen turns white).
Snow Leopard Expose glow is ugly
Wrote on September 5, 2009, 9:39pm
It's funny, this is about the same color as the glow in Safari's "Top Sites" feature. I have always said it was ugly. Admittedly after the Safari 4 beta they toned it down to be a little less jarring and ugly, but it's still ugly, just less so.
I feel the exact same way about the new Exposé ring glow. It's very un-Apple like in design quality! Don't get me wrong, I love the new Exposé but had that stupid ugly glow!
