Copy file path location

Submitted by kmfdm on August 11, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Unfortunatly you can not copy the path to a file or folder. This feature is availiable through tools like win shortcutter but it should be built into the system and should support forward and backslashes for mixed enviroments.

Folder badges should be colored

Submitted by Uncommon on August 11, 2008 to Aesthetics, Icons, Usability

The new Leopard folder icons have flat, monochromatic badges that are hard to read and distinguish from each other, especially at small sizes.

Bring back the colored badges that were in every previous version of OS X.

Spaces: setting for desktop-switching speed

Submitted by mito on August 11, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

I love Spaces -- or, rather, I think I will love it when I can use it.

I switch between desktops the way most people switch between applications. I'm used to the transitions being instantaneous. The Spaces transition is too slow (more...)

Speed setting for this transition.

QuickLook: Sound volume of QuickLook not adjustable and too loud by default

Submitted by Flauchhaus on August 11, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

When i QuickLook audio/videofiles the volume is too loud (like playing with 100% volume in iTunes), the same behavior was also in Finder file preview of Tiger, but there was a volume slider. In QuickLook/Leopard there is only an option to mute the sound. (more...)

Add an volume slider to QuickLook and/or don't set it to 100% by default (maybe sync the volume with iTunes or system sound effects volume)

Submitted by Flauchhaus on August 11, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Ejecting external storage devices often isn't possible because some app/process still using the device. When trying to eject/unmount the finder just pops up an error message saying that the device isn't ejectable and you have to close the apps (more...)

When unmounting fails the finder should list which apps/processes are preventing it, and optionally switch to the app.

Finder: Tabbed browsing in Finder

Submitted by Flauchhaus on August 11, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

The Finder has no tabbed browsing option. Tabbed browsing would improve productivity for anyone who is familiar and comfortable with tabbed browsing (a lot of users). Tabbed Browsing is an option in Safari and the Terminal, why not in the Finder?

Add tabbed browsing in Finder, and the ability to drag files to tabs to move/copy them to the location of the tab.

Possibility to resize windows till the bottom of the screen, even when the Dock is visible

Submitted by tomerb on August 11, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

When the Dock is visible, it effectively shrinks the available screen size for most applications. Safari and Firefox for example, can't be resized beyond the top margin of the dock.
This is also becomes an aesthetic issue in OS 10.5, where (more...)

This option should probably be optional, especially since some users have a very wide Dock which would hide window's status bars.

Dialog windows lack keyboard shortcuts and tabbing (by default)

Submitted by Oscar on August 10, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

By default, tabbing through buttons in a dialog window is off, which makes it ever so bothersome to quickly deal with them. Furthermore there is no proper indication of hotkeys, like you have in Windows (underlining the letter).

For instance, (more...)
