Double clikcing the folder you want in the path bar should be single click

Submitted by Hansii on September 1, 2008 to Annoyance

To me it seems odd to have to double click the wanted folder in the path bar in Finder.

Make it single click.

Delete Individual Items in Trash

Submitted by jay314 on December 29, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

I want to delete individual files from the trash, without emptying the whole trash bin.

This can be done via the terminal, but it should be available through finder.

Allow the user to press CMD + delete on a selection of items in the trash to permanently delete them.

Front Row: Resume playing music from iTunes

Submitted by Flauchhaus on November 17, 2008 to Annoyance

Opening Front row stops the music from iTunes and there is no option to resume it from iTunes in the front row menu. In Tiger, front row worked together with iTunes so it even was possible to close front row and continue playing music in iTunes (which (more...)

Starting Front row shouldn't stop playing music when opened, it should work together with iTunes like it was in Tiger.

Column View of Finder needs to be able to show widest contained folder/file names.

Submitted by treizep on August 23, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Each time I use Column View I must click on the buttons at the bottom of the vertical scrollbars to adapt the width of the browsed columns to the widest contained folder/file name !

When mouse is hovering an item which doesn't entirely fit in the column a tooltip needs to be displayed over the item to show whole item name.

Auto mounting of network shares

Submitted by Hansii on September 1, 2008 to Usability

If you are connected to a network server/shared folder and you move to another network the OS keeps nagging you about it until you disconnect.

Warn the user once, then reconnect as soon as the connected share is available again if the user did not choose to disconnect completely.

Finder not "keyboard navigation" friendly

Submitted by hoopla_punta on August 22, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

It seems that it is possible to navigate via keyboard. But it uses modifiers, so it's a little difficult.

There are some issues with keyboard navigation in Finder.
Level Navigation:
It is not possible to open lower levels (more...)

Time Machine bootable back ups

Submitted by Applefan on August 19, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Time Machine doesn't create bootable backups when backing up the Mac. When information is lost, I have to boot up from the install disk and restore. I'm also not able to continue with my work.

Add a fix so that Time Machine can create bootable back ups for the mac.

Submitted by tomerb on August 14, 2008 to Usability

when you switch between applications using CMD-Tab, it would be nice to have a small visual indication that the app you're switching to is minimized, so that you might be able to press the option key to maximize it. (Once you switched to it, it's (more...)

Finder: No way to refresh a window

Submitted by MicrowaveDave on October 1, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

There is no way to refresh a Finder window's view. This is a big problem particularly when accessing network volumes when other people or processes have modified files, because the current view of a folder cannot be relied upon to reflect the actual (more...)

Add a Refresh Window menu item and keyboard shortcut.

(Apple's KnowledgeBase suggests opening the folder, creating a new folder inside then trashing the new folder, which will force the Finder to update the folder's size. Apart (more...)

* The blue background should be black or not being shown at all.
* The cube effect transition should not show the blue background as well - just show the login window + background image.

Allow fullscreen mode of iTunes and Quicktime to keep in one Space

Submitted by Ian on September 17, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

If you use the coverflow fullscreen mode of iTunes and you change to another Space, when you return to the iTunes Space, fullscreen has change to normal windowed iTunes mode. The same happens with fullscreen mode in iTunes movies and Quicktime.

Allow to keep the fullscreen mode in one space while you are working in another.

Recurring tasks

Submitted by fbcrmn on October 24, 2008 to Usability

iCal can manage tasks, but they are not recurrent. Example: when you have to pay your cell phone's bill every 5th working day. This is not the same of creating a calendar entry. Outlook and Palm Desktop have it since long ago.

Also, (more...)

Include recurring tasks in iCal and sync them to iPhone.

Unify compress/extract, copy/move, mount

Submitted by mojo2012 on October 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

There are three different windows for file system operations:
* copy/move window --> the move windows hat "copy" in its window title ...
* compress/extract --> extract is a "copy" window, compress has its own (more...)

I think it would be much better, if all these functions would use the same window. Just change the window title and description.

Another thing I would like to see, is that all file system operation windows dock together. Or at least each (more...)

iTunes unusable during iPod update

Submitted by jasper on September 10, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

When iTunes is backing up the iPod and installing the software update, you are unable to use iTunes for playing music or do anything else, while if you synchronize the iPod it just backs up in the background (and installs apps in the background).

Get the update process in a background task, with the information in the top-green-thingy.
