Default Search in finder should be in CURRENT FOLDER not the whole computer

Submitted by renatocoral on October 24, 2008 to Usability

Normally when you search for files inside FINDER you look for files within a especific folder and that should be the default option. If you are looking for files on the whole computer you can always go directly to Spotlight.

Tasks bringing applications to the front

Submitted by Greymatters on October 6, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

You give "Application A" a task to do. While it is doing this, you go to "Application B" and continue working. In the middle of typing, you realize that you are now typing in "Application A" as it has completed its task and (more...)

At the very least, give the user an option to have tasks complete in the background.

Exposé: Automatically update when a new window opens/closes

Submitted by Flauchhaus on November 17, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Usability

When a window opens or closes while expose is activated, Exposé doesn't update automatically, so for example it leaves an "death" window space when a window closes while in expose, or when a new window opens it just shows the window in (more...)

Automatically update Exposé on new/closed windows.
The only downside i could imagine is that new windows wouldn't be that noticeable when many windows are open. A short highlighting of the new window in Exposé would fix that nicely, also (more...)

Recurring tasks

Submitted by fbcrmn on October 24, 2008 to Usability

iCal can manage tasks, but they are not recurrent. Example: when you have to pay your cell phone's bill every 5th working day. This is not the same of creating a calendar entry. Outlook and Palm Desktop have it since long ago.

Also, (more...)

Include recurring tasks in iCal and sync them to iPhone.

Allow minimized windows the ability to be closed via contextual menu

Submitted by migueld on December 19, 2008 to Usability

Some programs allow minimized windows to be closed such as iTunes, Word and Finder. However most programs don't. It would be useful if all programs had this functionality.

Allow minimized windows the ability to be closed via the contextual menu.

Submitted by Flauchhaus on November 17, 2008 to Annoyance

Opening Front row stops the music from iTunes and there is no option to resume it from iTunes in the front row menu. In Tiger, front row worked together with iTunes so it even was possible to close front row and continue playing music in iTunes (which (more...)

Starting Front row shouldn't stop playing music when opened, it should work together with iTunes like it was in Tiger.

Finder: integrate SCP connections into "Connect to server"

Submitted by mojo2012 on November 2, 2008 to Usability

This is a feature request!

It would be nice if the Finder would support ssh/scp connections fia the "connect to server dialog": eg ssh://myserver/share or scp://myserver/share

Implement ssh/scp protocol support for the "connect to server" dialog

Unify compress/extract, copy/move, mount

Submitted by mojo2012 on October 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

There are three different windows for file system operations:
* copy/move window --> the move windows hat "copy" in its window title ...
* compress/extract --> extract is a "copy" window, compress has its own (more...)

I think it would be much better, if all these functions would use the same window. Just change the window title and description.

Another thing I would like to see, is that all file system operation windows dock together. Or at least each (more...)

Submitted by mojo2012 on October 16, 2008 to Usability

The Locations menu is quite usefull. But why is it just for network settings?

Generalize the Locations menu --> store network, screen, background, power saving, sound etc ... for each location.

Submitted by migueld on December 13, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

If you navigate to a folder with a list view as default setting and than use Finder's "back"-button, Finder remembers the list view, despite the parent folder has not set this as the default view.
If you use the dropdown menu from (more...)
