Allow "Low Battery Warning" for Mouse to "Remind me again (insert time frame)

Submitted by hoopla_punta on October 30, 2008 to Annoyance

The "Low Battery Warning" Window for Mighty Mouses is very annoying, as you see it each time you wake from sleep and such.

Allow it to "Remind me again" in: 1 hour, 1 day...

Finder hotkeys are not system wide

Submitted by Hansii on September 1, 2008 to Annoyance

If I want to for instance connect to a network share I have to select Finder before I can use the hotkey.

Make the most used Finder hotkeys work system wide.

No option to hide menu bar

Submitted by Applefan on August 27, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Unlike the Dock, the Menu bar cannot be hidden. This is annoying as there is not enough space for work, especially for portables.

Get a utility or get a new software update that allows you to hide the menu bar at will and bring it back again.

iCal: I can't find any way to delete calendar entries or ToDos.

Submitted by hoosiercatguy on May 19, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

I believe there should be an easy way of deleting entries of any kind in iCal (e.g., calendar events or To Dos. I can't think of any reason why this capability should not be present for other types of entries, but perhaps there is one.) If an event (more...)

(1) Proposed solution: I think Apple should include a DELETE button or function within iCal.
(2) Alternatively (my 2nd choice) you could use the DELETE key on the keyboard to accomplish this function.

(NOTE: I am just a regular (more...)

Shouldn't have to EJECT a thumb drive

Submitted by doubleforte on August 29, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Why oh why must I be forced to drag my thumb drive's icon to the trash to eject it? This has been lame since I bought my first Mac in 1994. Windows users are shocked when they want to remove their thumb drive and I tell them they need to drag it (more...)

Just let me pull the thing out of the USB slot. The OS is smart enough to notice it's gone missing, so it should be smart enough to free up any resources it had allocated to the drive before it was removed.

Delete a File by Pressing Delete Key

Submitted by Explorer5 on October 31, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Why is it that when you select a file anywhere in the OS - desktop, finder, etc, but then click Delete, it does not delete the file? I understand clicking Cmd-Delete deletes the file, but why not just "Delete"?

What is the point (more...)

Enable deletion of files by only clicking the delete key. Do NOT require cmd-delete or any other combination.

Apple! Stop stereotyping PCs!

Submitted by andexsafari231 on March 20, 2010 to Annoyance

Apple, you are extremely childish using a PC monitor with a Windows 9x style BSOD as an icon for PCs on a computer network under Mac OS X. At least Microsoft don't stereotype your products!

Quit poking stereotypes at Microsoft, and everything will be fine.

Floating pallets and windows that hide themselves when switching between applications

Submitted by MicrowaveDave on October 5, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Some applications have windows or floating pallets that hide when changing between applications. If I switch to another application, the information in these windows is now hidden and can't be seen until the original application is active again.

Don't hide windows. At least have a button on them to make them stay visible when switching apps.

Handy workaround: Use Dashboard Stickies to copy the information, which doesn't hide the windows in the background.

Remove Finder's 'light' unless a finder window is actually open.

Submitted by Explorer5 on October 31, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons

Finder always appears to be open - demonstrated by the lighted dot underneath the icon on the desktop. That light should only be active if a finder window is actually open. Sure Apple says that finder is always active, with spotlight etc - but as far (more...)

Finder's "light" below the icon should only appear when a finder window has been opened. It should not be a permanent fixture.

Unable to see icons on menu bar if there are too many

Submitted by hoopla_punta on August 11, 2008 to Annoyance, Icons, Usability

When you switch to an app with a lot of menus, your icons on the right get cut away, never to be found unless you which to e.g. finder, which has less menus.

This also happens when you switch to lower resolutions for projectors and such. (more...)

Double clicking the apple icon will push another "menu bar" below the actual one. Then you can drag icons into the additional bar, including system ones, by using the "command" modifier. (FYI, did you know that you can reorder system (more...)
